Merged and renamed in 2014, Somerset Medical Center is currently known as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. The medical center serves the central New Jersey area and is recognized as a Magnet hospital for its excellence in nursing. Further, its Steeplechase Cancer Center is designated as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
Equipped to provide care for breast, lung, prostate, colon and rectal, and gynecologic cancers, the center offers a full range of cutting-edge clinical and support services. For instance, the center not only uses knife-less surgery, but also partners with the Institute for Robotic Surgery for innovative clinical techniques. With a full spectrum of social services, the center includes a cancer risk evaluation program, genetic counseling, and nutrition services, among other resources.
