As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Cabot Advisory Group, LLC, Steven Darien has leveraged his three decades of business experience to push the company to new heights. He provides management advice on critical human resources management issues such as employee communications, organizational design, strategic planning, and board relationships. Over his career, he has garnered extensive industry recognition for his work as a troubleshooter and human resources expert. Steven Darien has sat on numerous industry organizational boards, holds a Fellowship with the National Academy of Human Resources, has been featured in various articles, and has presented guest lectures at Harvard Business School.
Before working at Cabot Advisory Group, Steven Darien spent years with Merck & Co., Inc. Immediately before joining Cabot, he served Merck as Senior Vice President of Human Resources, and he oversaw all aspects of HR management, including communications, employment, training, productivity, affirmative action, information systems, executive succession, and labor relations. Before that, Darien worked as Director of Management Consulting Services. He oversaw consulting services and worked to integrate various aspects of Merck’s business into an efficient, effective whole.
While Steven Darien worked at the company, Merck acquired a reputation as an exceptional employer and business. Over the years, it ranked in the Top 10 for Best Employer, Best Companies for Minorities, Best Companies for Women, Best Employee Benefits, Healthiest Companies for Women, and Best HR Information Systems, all aspects directly tied to his work at the company. In 1984, his success resulted in Darien being selected by the Merck Chairman to lead a team of executives as part of President Ronald Reagan’s Grace Commission Private Sector Task Force.
